What I think burns was eluding too was, for 65k you can get a boat that rates 33. I'm pretty sure everyone here knows the short comings of the J-105 so I won't get into a boat bashing thread with you. You were correct on two points though, the amount of boats and the easiness of the A-kite.

Your right Scott, back in the day phrf ratings were based on W/L/T but the sprit boats have pretty much changed all of that. Their speed difference between reaching and running is just too big of a difference to properly rate. Since all major regattas are W/L's their ratings have come to reflect that in the national phrf book, right or wrong. You can even see this in our rum race series where reaching is prevalent, out of the top 8 boats there was only one symmetrical.

As in all handicap racing, different courses for different horses, different wind strengths help different boats. Please lets not get into another phrf or level 70 thread...

OR if JJ's idea is just too radical (trying to imagine the three clubs agreeing), and the number of regattas stays the same, turn the lower turn out ones into a one dayer. See what happens, change is good in some things, not so much in others...

+1 with Marc and Jody.

Our boat has been out on the bay every weekend or so it seems. We just have some people that are going to be out of town and the rest wanted a break. We support the GBAD idea but it's just a timing issue with us. Count us in for the Bank.

Man, that boat was hauling the ass!

Was that Mary taking a drink of her beer every 1.2 seconds?

My minds hurts now...

I vote to let them race but don't let them into the party. They are kinda weird...  :-*

Amen, thanks to all. It's takes a lot of hard work by a lot of people to pull these things off. It's called giving back to the sport, thanks again.

Is that where you guys pawned my outboard to fund those 1 dollar margaritas and then told me someone stole it?
